General

The windmills of Mykonos situated on a hill, overlooking the town and port of Mykonos is the landmark of the island.Today there are windmills 7 windmills all over Mykonos island comparing to the 20 windmills that existed in the past.

History

The windmills contributed to the financial prosperity of the island between the 17^th and 19^th century providing rusks to the sailing boats that used to pass through Aegean sea and were having the necessary stop in Mykonos port

Nowadays

The windmills have become a precious real estate and some of them were sold and became private. One of them was converted into a very special residence. Others are available to host visitors and are used as “hotels”
